I don’t know about you, but I have always hated shopping for prescription eyeglasses. It seems as if all of the trendy glasses are overpriced and all of the affordable glasses are ugly. Unless you want to induce premature face wrinkles from squinting at the computer screen all day (Botox by 26?), glasses are a must.  Introducing Warby Parker: trendy prescription eyeglasses starting at only $95 with free shipping!

Warby Parker’s concept is genius. Skip the middleman. Order your glasses direct from their website. They have an awesome “Home Try-On” concept which allows you to order 5 pairs of glasses from their site, keep them for 5 days to decide which pair you like, and return them on the 5th day with the prepaid return shipping label. Easy as pie! Also, if you check out their website right away, you can channel your inner Daisy or Gatsby (or Leonardo, if that’s more of your thing) with their limited edition 1922 Collection. Considering they named their company after the “master wordsmith” Jack Kerouac, I’m not surprised their latest collection would be inspired by the fabulous works of F. Scott Fitzgerald.

Buy a Pair, Give a Pair. Warby Parker recognized that 15% of the global population lacks access to eyeglasses, which seriously hinders one’s opportunity to learn. Embracing a similar philosophy as Toms Shoes, Warby Parker has collaborated with non-profits, such as VisionSpring, to donate one pair of glasses to someone in need for each pair sold. If that doesn’t motivate you to shop with them, I don’t know what will!

For those of you living in New York City, be sure to stop by their new brick-and-mortar location in the Cast Iron District. This location boasts tall ceilings, shelves lined with eyeglasses and classic reads, and rolling ladders to complete the library-chic atmosphere. Schedule an appointment with an optometrist for only $50 and then head over to the store photobooth to model the selection of frames.
