When the thong gained popularity in the US in the early 90s, women were shocked by this new uncomfortable phenomenon – but like any trend, thongs quickly became a fad and briefs were tossed to the wayside. After purchasing my first one from Abercrombie Kids (I think these were quickly taken off the market), I swore I’d never see the day that panties would actually get larger.

Yes, I know this is hard to believe, but data shows the sale of thongs has decreased over the past year by 7%, and the sale of fuller shapes has increased by 17%! Whether women have gotten tired of the same shape for so many years (Am I the only one tired of hanky pankys?) or perhaps women prefer keeping a little more to the imagination, but one way or another, get ready for a vast change in the lingerie market.
