Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort

Though we generally share some of our our favorite destinations we’ve visited over the years, today we are going to spotlight one destination we happen to call home: Sandestin. Most people are familiar with Destin, Seaside, Watercolor, etc – but Sandestin is a premier resort between Destin and Seaside that definitely needs to be on your radar (if it isn’t already!)

My sisters and I grew up visiting Sandestin since we were little, so it made sense to call our beach house home after we left for college and said goodbye to Alabama. This golf and beach resort is one of our favorite destinations along the coast for families or adults, due to all of the amenities and activities provided in the community.

Voted as the #1 resort on the Emerald Coast, Sandestin provides a little something for everyone.  Unlike the typical resort, Sandestin offers up to 2400 rental properties (including hotels, condos, villas, homes, and penthouses) over their four resort areas: Beachside, Bayside, Lakeside, and the Village.

Though we are no golf experts (I mean, we did kill it in our women’s golf league of Summer 2014…), we do know that Sandestin does not slack on the importance of a great golf course. With four available courses in the resort, and iconic course designers like Robert Trent Jones Jr., Reed Jones, and Tom Jackson, the resort offers the best quality golf experience for anyone – not to mention some great views from the villas surrounding the course!

What’s a vacation without good food? Sandestin offers a variety of great restaurant’s to enjoy during your stay without having to leave the resort. A few favorites among all the spots: Another Broken Egg Cafe, Barefoot’s, The Beach House, Seagars, and Marina Bar & Grill

As 20-somethings, it’s no secret we like to find a little nighttime entertainment, and this is where our love for the Village of Baytowne Wharf comes in. Situated on the Bayside of the resort, this family-friendly and young-adult-approved area provides the best entertainment for capping off a relaxing day on the beach. With a large variety of restaurants, shopping, and live music venues, this local village is our favorite place to frequent when home. Our recommendations: live blues at Graffiti’s Funky Blues Shack, a little dueling-piano action at Rum Runners, and some live beach music at Hammerhead’s. Best of all, no need to worry about calling an Uber after your night out – the Sandestin Trolly makes runs all night throughout the resort!

Since every vacation deserves a day of pampering, the Serenity by the Sea spa at the Hilton Sandestin is definitely a must. Not only has this spa been ranked as one of the best along the Emerald Coast, it was also chosen as one of Conde Nast Traveler’s Top 100 U.S. Spas. With many treatments including seawater pearls and sea salts, Serenity is the ultimate beachside oasis.
