The Return Of The Perm

RETURN OF THE PERM TREND 2016

If you are an avid reader of The Perennial Style, you may have noticed there are a lot of comeback trends. It’s true what they say, what goes around comes back around (cue Justin Timberlake). Though many new trends have been introduced in the fashion and beauty scene – pastel hair color, anyone? – some of the best trends simply reappear from decade to decade.

That being said, we are so pumped to share the newest hair trend making waves in the beauty spectrum – the perm. Yes, the perm.

Before you freak out at the return of 80s frizz, the 2016 perm is slightly different than the Sarah Jessica Parker look back in the day. With countless new products to tame your hair and new methods to achieve the perfect curl, the new perm simply helps you embrace a natural curl for a voluminous bounce.

Choosing the right rod for your goal curl is key to mastering the perfect curl. Though you can choose a smaller rod for a super tight curl, we prefer the look of the larger rod, which gives your hair soft, beachy waves. With summer humidity and air-dried beach hair, why not embrace the curl with a bit of oomph for a low-maintenance summer wave?

Perms are no stranger to our household. Before Janie began highlighting her hair, she got occasional perms to add thickness and body to her hair. The simple process created flowy, natural-looking curls and volume. Super easy with a fabulous finish!

Before you jump on board and schedule your next perm, be sure to talk to your stylist about the desired curl size and the perfect products for taming your mane. From wild tresses to tame waves, the perm is back. Get ready.
