You know how some people say they never feel “put together” without that final touch of lipstick? For me, that’s how I feel about my curls. Though I’ll never quite understand how to master a curling iron with a clip, a curling wand is hands down the simplest tool for achieving the perfect curl. Since different barrel sizes create a different curl, I love the Lionesse 4 in 1 curling wand, since it easily allows me to change my look – without having a plethora of tools stashed in my cabinets!
Today I’ve teamed up with Lionesse to teach you my simple curling routine for a fresh, everyday hairstyle! For my hair length, it takes about 10 minutes max – what can be better than that?
Tools: To achieve my everyday curls, you simply need:
- 1-inch Lionesse curling wand
- A moisturizing hair serum, like this Lionesse Vitamin E Hair serum
- A holding spray, like this Lionesse Holding Spray
- Hair Brush
- Hair Clip
Step 1: To protect my hair from heat damage and give a silky, smooth shine to my locks, I run a pea-sized amount of Lionesse Hair Serum through my dry hair before getting started. Though it can be applied all over, I generally only apply the serum to the bottom half of my hair if I’m about to style it.
Step 2: Since my hair is layered, I like to separate my hair into two sections with a clip to add a bit of volume between the layers.
Step 3: Grab a 1-2 inch section of hair and spray with the holding spray. This will help your hair curl easier and hold its shape once you’ve finished. Step 4: Wrap your hair around the curling wand and count to 5 seconds. The wands are super hot, so it doesn’t take long to achieve a strong curl. Continue this process along the bottom layer, and make sure you do not brush out the curl yet. Since I don’t like my curls to be overwhelming, I never curl the entire piece – stopping half way up the strand will give a smooth, voluminous look.
Step 5: Once you’ve completed the bottom layer, drop the top layer and continue this process. To avoid looking like Shirley Temple, I simply curl the ends of my top layer to blend with the bottom.
Step 6: After curling both layers, set your curls with a final round of holding spray.
Final step: Since my hair has more bounce and natural volume when it’s less structured, I like to wait 5-10 minutes until my hair has completely cooled and lightly brush through it for a smoother look. Tip: if you don’t wait until your hair has cooled, you will brush out the curls – defeating the entire process!
So there you have it, my quick and easy everyday hair tutorial. Although I like to switch up my routine for different looks or occasions, this is the one process I rely on when I’m short on time and looking for a simple update! What’s your go-to hair routine?
