Back in Black

Over the past year or two I made it my goal to incorporate more colors and prints into my wardrobe. I always gravitated towards black, white, grays, you name it – so I figured why not spice things up a bit and add some color. As much fun as it is to arrive in a little hot pink number for a night out or debut a new printed caftan for a tropical getaway, I’ve realized there’s still nothing quite like a closet full of black.

As a blogger, I’m constantly photographing my outfits, and though I have no issues with being an outfit repeater (let’s face it, I overwear all my favorites), black is hands down the most versatile color. Whether I’m looking to mix and match outfits for various events or fit as many items into my carry-on as possible, sticking with black is the simplest way to make the most out of your wardrobe.

That being said, I’m so excited about this new black sheer blouse I snagged recently. I’ve already worn it countless times, and I know this is the new go-to top to pull for every outing. The sheer fabric is feminine and lightweight (hello, Dallas heat), and the flowy yet tailored shape is flattering and forgiving. I layered it with a tank underneath, but for those of you feeling a bit more daring on the weekends, skip the tank and go with a lacy bralette.

I’m always on the hunt for a comfy pair of jeans, so if you’re looking, definitely order a pair of these. The ripped knees gives an edge to the feminine top, but a high waist skirt can definitely transition the top into a new look.
