Imagine combining the ancient history of Athens with modern-day luxury while vacationing in Greece – sounds too good to be true, right? Discover AthensWas Hotel: a boutique escape in the heart of Athens offering the best views of the city. Surrounded by local boutiques and delicious restaurants, AthensWas Hotel is a prime location to explore both the charm of the city, as well as historical landmarks.
Since I generally prefer staying in boutique hotels when I travel, I was so excited when my friend Gabby of Savvy Home introduced me to the AthensWas Hotel on our trip to Europe. The contemporary decor and inviting atmosphere was a perfect place to relax after a morning of exploring. As much as loved touring the Acropolis, enjoying views of it on a rooftop patio with vino in hand with Gabby and Taye was much more my style.
THE VIBE
AthensWas Hotel is one of the newest hotels within the Anemi Hotels family. The hotel embraces classic modernism, offering contemporary design and minimalism alongside Greek marble, walnut, and traditional Grecian art. The dark color schemes mixed with outdoor terraces creates a cozy yet warm ambience.
LOCATION
Located on the popular Dionysiou Areopagitou street, AthensWas Hotel is in one of the best areas in the city. Enjoy the city vibes of Athens by wandering down the cobblestone streets and popping in and out of quaint boutiques. With dozens of delicious Greek restaurants surrounding you, the opportunities to dine are endless!
If you’ve never been to Athens, you must make a trip to visit the Acropolis. Whether you choose to walk or hop in a cab, AthensWas Hotel is a prime location to the historic site.
ACCOMMODATIONS
Though the boutique hotel only offers twenty guest rooms, there are six room types from standard to suite, each with a large and inviting veranda. One fun amenity that takes your stay to the next level is the in-room pillow menu. Too soft? Too firm? AthensWas Hotel offers a pillow menu to guarantee you get the sleep you deserve!
DINING
The rooftop of the AthensWas Hotel offers a unique dining experience, while soaking in the incredible views of the city. The light and contemporary twist on Mediterranean cuisine features classic elements of Greek dishes, combined with influences of French specialities and Japanese fusion. The unique menu is set to mimic the mix of the eclectic taste of Athens, which is clearly evident when experiencing the ancient history alongside the modern cityscape.
THE VIEW
Aside from the beautiful decor and delicious restaurants, the top reason I recommend staying at the AthensWas Hotel is because it offers the best views in the city. The rooftop terrace and many of the guest rooms offer outdoor verandas with direct views of the Acropolis, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, and the Parthenon – so if dodging crowds at historic locations isn’t your style, book a stay at the AthensWas Hotel to experience the view and soak in a bit of culture at your leisure!
