If you ever find yourself in England and want an INCREDIBLE experience, we have just the weekend visit for you! I was fortunate enough to be invited to a wedding at Whatley Manor, and it was by far one of the best places I’ve ever visited. I recommend this manor house to everyone who spends time in London. It’s part of the Relais & Chateaux hotel group, so you know it will be a top notch stay with impeccable service.
GETTING THERE:
Whatley Manor is in Malmesbury England. I took a 1hr 15 min train from London Paddington to Chippenham or Kemble, then I grabbed a taxi transfer from Chippenham which was about 25 minutes. It was really simple! I was by myself and did it in a breeze.
WHAT TO DO:
After a travel day, I was treated to one of the best facials I’ve had in my entire life. I highly recommend enjoying the spa – remember this trip is all about R&R. The spa is very large with steam rooms, an indoor/outdoor Jacuzzi, and plenty of areas to relax before or after your service.
Saturday we woke up and enjoyed a wonderful English breakfast before hopping in a car and heading to Stonehenge. We loved exploring the countryside and had a fabulous driver that the hotel recommended. Other options were clay pigeon shooting, roaming the gardens (highly recommend!), bike rentals, golfing, horseback riding, and hot air ballooning. There are plenty of ways to keep yourself busy with leisurely activities!
THE RESTAURANTS:
There are two restaurants and the food is memorable! The ambiance, menu, wine list, and service is going to make this one of your favorite meals in Europe.
THE ACCOMMODATIONS:
Our room was amazing. It’s not a typical European hotel where you have tiny rooms. We had a very large room, heated marble floors and towel bars in the bathroom, and a beautiful patio which went into the gardens.
OVERALL:
If you are looking for a romantic getaway, destination wedding, or low key girls weekend in a beautiful setting, we highly recommend Whatley Manor.
