It’s hard to travel many places these days without hearing the word “Zika”, and as three sisters in our 20s, we strongly believe in staying proactive with our health. Since we love traveling to tropical destinations, we are so excited to share a new clothing line designed to keep us protected with insect-repellent fabrics: Per Vigore.
Per Vigore was created by my super-talented friend, Sarah Pottharst. While this New Orleans native and I became close friends at SMU, she later attended grad school at Parsons in New York City to study fashion. This was the start of many incredible experiences in the fashion industry, and we’ve loved following her success. Sarah has since moved Venice to start this one of a kind fashion line, and we are so excited to introduce you to Per Vigore!
Per Vigore is a brand designed with insect-repellent fabrics made for ready-to-wear pieces and maternity clothes. It’s meant to be “transitional” with its sophisticated pleats, tucks, and seam detailing – making it a flowy top today, and a maternity top in a few years. The versatile silhouettes are designed to flatter a woman at any stage of her life!
While insect-repellent fabrics are found primarily in camping and outdoor clothing, Per Vigore is the first ready-to-wear and maternity line that incorporates Permethrin into its fabrics. The chemical is approved by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Environmental Protection Agency and retains full potency for upwards of 70 washes. Sarah is helping minimize the risk, so we can continue visiting our favorite destinations!
Besides the practicality of the fabrics, they are also high fashion – after all, Sarah has experience with Oscar De La Renta and wanted her line to be both fashionable and functional. All of the pieces are made near Lake Como and Tuscany in the same factory as Escada, Stella McCartney, and Marc Jacobs. You can see the beautiful attention to detail with pleating and high-end tailoring in every style.
