SHOP MY LOOK:
I’ve always believed that going to bed in something pretty will make you wake up feeling pretty – why toss on a comfy old tee when you can slip into a lacy little number? Silk slips and chemises have always been my weakness, which is why three of my dresser drawers are dedicated solely to color-coordinated lingerie. What can I say, I love anything feminine.
Because of this, it’s no surprise the lingerie fashion trend is ultimately one of my favorite trends of the season. Not only does this trend bring the boudoir to the streets, but it is also doubles my wardrobe! While the idea of wearing lingerie in public could sound a bit intimidating or risque at first, there are simple ways to rock the trend without appearing too racy. Check out my five outfit ideas below on how to turn your underwear into outerwear:
Wear A Lacy Slip With A Sweater
While the slip dress is one of the must-have dresses of the season, I like to mix textures when wearing a silk slip. I love layering cozy sweaters, longline blazers, and denim jackets over slip dresses to make the silk a bit more casual – plus adding a layer makes the slip a bit more modest for a night out! Since this slip dress was a mini, I paired it with over the knee boots to minimize the amount of leg when adding heels. For a daytime look, pair it with a pair of flat ankle booties or white sneakers.
Wear A Lace Bodysuit Instead Of A Simple Tee
If you don’t own a bodysuit, I recommend you order one now! Not only do they feel incredibly flirty, I love how sleek they look when paired with jeans or a skirt. If a blazer and jeans is your usual go-to for date night, switch up your simple tee with a lace bodysuit. It will instantly make you feel more glamorous, and the modest blazer paired with a lacy bodysuit creates the perfect balance!
Add A Peek-A-Boo Look By Wearing A Pretty Bralette Under Sheer Tops
One of the easiest ways to wear the lingerie trend is to switch up the basic nude bra with lacy intimates. While having a bra peek through your top was always the ultimate faux-pas, you won’t have to think twice about it this season. Whether you wear a black bralette under a white cotton tee or go all out with a full sheer shirt, the peek-a-boo look is chic no matter how you wear it! Â
Layer A Bustier Over A Simple White Blouse
This trend is definitely a love-it-or-hate-it trend, but I absolutely love it. Since we all know the white button down is the ultimate closet staple and truly timeless, add a little oomph this season by layering a chic bustier over it. It’s an unexpected twist on the classic shirt, but it looks great when paired with distressed skinnies and simple pointed toe pumps. Go ahead and give it a try!
Wear A Silk Robe WIth A Pair Of Jeans And A Simple Tank
Since fall is the season of layering, of course this is true for the lingerie trend as well. Instead of reaching for your favorite chunky knit sweater or leather jacket, switch it up with your favorite silk robe. While pairing it with a slip dress may look like you just stepped out of the bedroom, try pairing it with jeans and a simple tank. It’s easy, chic, and incredibly comfy. Trust me, you’ll love this one!
