Denim has always been a closet essential, but lately the more denim you can find the better. From patchwork skinnies to embroidered flares, distressed mini skirts to button-up jumpers, denim is definitely having a moment. While I love all of the new unique styles, there’s nothing I love more than a simple denim mini skirt. (Note: I had the hardest time giving away my A&F mini skirt in the early 2000s, so you can only imagine how thrilled I am that denim skirts are back.)

While a denim skirt may not seem like an appropriate style for chilly winter days, pairing it with the right pieces keeps you warm and chic!

WEAR TIGHTS

Considering I’ve been bundled for months, the last thing I want to do is debut my tan-less legs on a freezing cold day. Rather than reaching for the bronzer, a pair of black tights is always my essential for wearing a denim skirt in the winter. Tights keep my legs warm, while elongating them when paired with heels!

TRY OVER-THE-KNEE BOOTS

If tights under a mini skirt isn’t your cup of tea, you can never go wrong with a pair of over the knee boots. Pair your skirt and boots with a chunky sweater for an easy go-to look!

KEEP IT MODEST

While I’m all for sky-high stilettos, keep your outfit modest when wearing a denim mini.  If you want to wear heels, try a chic pair of mules. If you boots are platform like mine, be sure to wear tights. A denim skirt wasn’t designed to be “sexy”, so remember to keep it casual chic.
