How To Prep Your Guest Bedroom For Out-Of-Town Visitors

One of my favorite parts of being a home-owner is having available guest rooms for my friends to come visit. After VES and SMU, our friends live all over the place! Not only does it give us endless excuses to plan weekend getaways to visit them, we have also had so much fun hosting countless friends when they visit Dallas!

When we set up our guest bedroom, we wanted to make sure it had all the amenities to make our friends feel welcome! Today we’re sharing our tips on how we prep our guest bedroom for friends and family + tips on making your space feel inviting! Keep reading to learn more:

Don’t Skimp On Bedding

I’m one of those girls who is always freezing at night, so I love a warm and cozy bed with lots of blankets and a comfy duvet! Pretty linens and a big stack of pillows will make your guests feel right at home! If you want to go the extra mile, keep a warm set of robes in the closet for guests to enjoy!

Optimizing Bedroom Comfort with Ideal Bed Choices

While selecting premium linens and plush pillows is crucial, the choice of bed frame and mattress also plays a pivotal role in ensuring your guests’ comfort. A cozy white bed can serve as the centerpiece of your guest bedroom, providing not only comfort but also enhancing the room’s aesthetic appeal. White beds can help brighten the room and create a sense of space and tranquility. They are versatile enough to match any decor style, adding to the overall welcoming atmosphere. By choosing a bed that embodies comfort and style, you ensure that your guests enjoy a restful night’s sleep.

Create Space For Guests To Unpack

If you happen to use your guest bedroom for overflow clothes (and perhaps an extra wine fridge like us!), there’s no need to completely empty your closet for weekend guests. However, we always keep the front half of our guest bedroom walk-in closet empty, so our guests have plenty of space to hang their clothes if needed and store their luggage

Liven Up The Room With Fresh Flowers

Safe to say we don’t spend too much time in our guest bedroom, but we still like the room to feel as fresh and bright as the rest of our house! Adding a bouquet of fresh flowers and a scented candle on the bedside table before guests arrive is a subtle touch that makes a warm and welcoming gesture!

Provide Fresh And Fluffy Towels

Towels are always so affordable, so whenever we set up our guest bedroom, we stocked the bathroom with a set of fresh towels and washcloths. I like to leave one set folded on the vanity when they walk in, and another set in the bathroom cabinet. It’s a small touch that makes everyone feel welcome!

Stock The Shower With Your Favorite Hair Products And Body Wash

I love to keep my favorite hair products and liquid body wash in the shower for guests to use, and I love stocking the cabinets with travel-sized goodies from some of my favorite hotels.  Note: Always keep liquid body wash in your guest bathroom – because no one wants to share a bar of soap…

Keep Extra Necessities In Your Bathroom Drawers

I don’t know about you, but I always seem to forget toothpaste or a razor when I travel. Because of this, I like to keep a drawer filled with toothpaste, extra packaged toothbrushes, disposable razors, and other everyday essentials in case my guests left theirs at home. Also, apothecary jars are a great way to display items like Q-Tips and perfume samples!

Don’t Forget The Blow Dryer

I’m always trying to keep my suitcase compact, so I rarely pack a blow dryer when I travel. I always keep a blow dryer in the drawer for friends that left theirs at home!

Keep Extra Phone Chargers, TV Remotes, + The Wifi Password On The Bedside Tables

Whether they forgot their charger or it’s buried deep in their suitcase, keeping an extra iPhone charger next to the bed is always super helpful! I also like to keep the wifi password in the bedroom in case someone wakes up early to work and can’t find it! Little details like this are always appreciated.

Whether you’re hosting friends or family, these small touches will make your guests feel right at home!
