Style Trend Alert: Waist Belts One of my all-time favorite accessories is having a moment right now: the waist belt. Needless to say, I’m all for it. Getting dressed in the early 2000s was a breeze. Toss on any dress, add your favorite waist belt, and voila you’re ready to go! Though I stored my favorite waist belts deep under my bed for years (I never get rid of anything…), I’m more than thrilled to pull out my favorites and invest in new styles as well! WHY YOU NEED A WAIST BELT Waist belts are ultra-flattering and the easiest way to give your outfit a polished touch. Rather than relying on tailoring or finding the perfect silhouette to highlight your shape, waist belts cinch at all the right places to flatter your figure. In addition, they elevate even the simplest outfit and effortlessly gives that “put together” look. While waist belts come in many shapes and sizes (and you need a mix of both!), I personally prefer wide belts because they are tight around your mid-section, tend to be more flattering, and they make your outfit pop. CHAINS, LEATHER, BELT BAGS, & MORE Unlike the 2000s when waist belts were your standard leather band, this season is pulling in so many new styles. From layered chains to trendy belt bags, you can easily make a statement while flattering your figure! SHOP MY LOOK One item I think every woman needs in her wardrobe is a classic satin skirt. It’s hands down the most versatile item in my closet, and I have it in so many colors! Whether you pair it with sneakers and a tee or a feminine blouse and heels, it’s the easiest item to mix and match for any occasion. (Basically it’s the moto jacket of skirts…) Rather than pulling out my standard LBD, I paired my favorite black satin skirt with this sweetheart-neck sweater I just got ($40 and can’t stop wearing!) and my grandmother’s vintage Gucci bag for a monochrome look. While an untucked shirt can look a little messy, adding a belt over an untucked sweater is a simple and easy way to give your outfit a polished touch!
