One of the most valuable things I’ve learned over the past few years is that taking the time to discover what you enjoy most will greatly influence the amount of happiness, as well as success, you will you experience in your day-to-day life. One individual that reinforces this would be our close family friend, Lea Barksdale. Lea is hands down one of the cutest women I have ever met, and if you have ever had the chance to see her house, you will instantly agree – think The Greenbrier meets Lilly Pulitzer, just omg! Though Lea’s taste in fashion and home decor was always evident, I am more than excited to share her newest passion – art!
When decorating a room, I always love to start with one large abstract painting and go from there. By finding one piece that I can’t live without, it is all the inspiration I need to furnish and accessorize any room. I am completely in love with
Lea’s acrylic and oil paintings and the way each piece brings a space to life! I love the way each of these paintings could match any style, whether a beach house with
this, a classic home with
this, or my favorite, a bold and modern room complete with a huge painting like
this! Check our some of my favorites below and click

Contemporary design has always been a favorite of mine when I dream of my future home. I just love the chic and simplistic aesthetics of a modern home. This past week, we attended the Pohlenz Dallas – Valcucine opening hosted by Modern Luxury in the Dallas Design District. Scott Pohlenz is a licensed architect from Tulsa who has worked throughout the states and Europe to design beautiful rooms, while providing a white glove service to cater to individual requests. I had the pleasure of meeting Scott at the opening and was extremely impressed with his new Dallas showroom. Valcucine, the anchor line for Pohlenz, focuses on providing quality and contemporary designs, while remaining environmentally friendly with their 100% recyclable kitchens. My close friend, David Arnwine, has been named showroom manager for the new Dallas location, and with his experience in the interior design industry, I have no doubt clients will be more than impressed with their final result! As a lover of fashion, I was head over heels for their contemporary closet designs (which were fully stocked with Edo Popken clothing) and plan on using David’s expertise when I buy my first home! Take a look at some of our pictures from the event and be sure to check out the Pohlenz portfolio here for more home design inspiration and services!

I love lots of color in a room, and I am obsessed with the agate trend that is popping up everywhere. It’s such a fun and simple way to add texture and something unique to any room. Agate tends to be a little pricey, so if you ever find a cool piece on sale I suggest you buy it and use it as decoration in a shelf, on a coffee table, or anywhere else that needs a burst of color. Luckily lots of designers are picking up on this trend so you can find everything from coasters, lamps, wine bottle stoppers, bookends, and much more. I think we will be seeing these beautiful pieces around for a while, so I recommend you pick up a unique agate sooner than later!

Happy Friday friends! Last night we attended the Sewell Lexus Design party at 129 Leslie. This venue is hands down my favorite location in Dallas – flashback to Italian Fashion Week. Beats by Jeff Mitchell, fashion by Stanley Korshak, dinner by Dean Fearing (who can hate the Ritz?), and beautiful Lexus vehicles parked throughout are just some of the exciting ingredients to a fabulous evening! The best part about the whole night was all the proceeds from the party were donated to the charity of your choice!

love these invitations
