One thing you may have learned about me is that I am always on board to try out the newest trends. Crop tops, ear cuffs, overalls, scrunchies, you name it. However, I have to admit I am having to ease myself into one of the newest trends hitting the scene this season: the long short. Though Bermuda shorts are not a new trend by any means, considering a pair of slouchy knee-length shorts to be a feminine and daring new look is a bit daunting to me. With so many different shapes and lengths available for these new shorts, it is definitely possible to find the right shape and style for any size with a little trial and error. Take a look at some of the new looks below and tell me what you think. Like I said, they are growing on me. Are you in?

As most people are well-aware, HIV has been an epidemic affecting Africa for quite some time now. With over 260,000 babies born with HIV last year alone, the transmission rate from mother to child during childbirth is largely at fault. Physicians have discovered that with only one pill a day taken by the mother during pregnancy, the child has a 98% chance of being born HIV-free.
John Megrue, of Apax Partners, reached out to Anna Wintour and Diane von Furstenburg to bring Born Free to life. Born Free is a new non-profit that plans to bring funding to African countries to provide women with the medicine they need to help prevent the spread of HIV during pregnancy. What makes this charity different than others is that there is already a solution to the epidemic, therefore this issue can be drastically controlled through raising funds. Born Free is a collaboration of 22 fashion designers to create a collection of mother-daughter apparel produced at a cost-efficient rate to raise money for the cause. The MAC Aids fund plans to match up to $500,000 in proceeds. Designers such as Prada, Versace, Marni, Stella McCartney, Victoria Beckham, among others have contributed.
The Born Free collection is now available on Shopbop. Click here to see the full collection and take a look of some of the pieces below. Go ahead, start shopping! (Did I mention everything is under $245?)

For a night out at the Winspear Opera House with the family, I decided to wear my new metallic jacquard skirt I picked up from the Simply Stylist sample sale at the W a couple weeks ago. Paired with a J Crew wool sweater and my favorite Milly peacoat, it was such an easy way to dress up for the holidays while remaining comfy and warm in the freezing weather. I have fallen head over heels for all of the fabulous new minis this season – I might have to snag this, this, and this one too!
