As most people are well-aware, HIV has been an epidemic affecting Africa for quite some time now. With over 260,000 babies born with HIV last year alone, the transmission rate from mother to child during childbirth is largely at fault. Physicians have discovered that with only one pill a day taken by the mother during pregnancy, the child has a 98% chance of being born HIV-free.
John Megrue, of Apax Partners, reached out to Anna Wintour and Diane von Furstenburg to bring Born Free to life. Born Free is a new non-profit that plans to bring funding to African countries to provide women with the medicine they need to help prevent the spread of HIV during pregnancy. What makes this charity different than others is that there is already a solution to the epidemic, therefore this issue can be drastically controlled through raising funds. Born Free is a collaboration of 22 fashion designers to create a collection of mother-daughter apparel produced at a cost-efficient rate to raise money for the cause. The MAC Aids fund plans to match up to $500,000 in proceeds. Designers such as Prada, Versace, Marni, Stella McCartney, Victoria Beckham, among others have contributed.

Spring showers are never a surprise over Easter weekend at the beach. Though one would think rainy days aren’t ideal for a coastal weekend, I find it to be refreshing and peaceful when I am home! There’s nothing better than a long weekend home with the family, and since our home is in Sandestin, FL, we packed up our bags and headed to the coast for Easter. We had so much fun all weekend enjoying our favorite spots like lunch at Barefoot’s Beachside Bar & Grill at the Sandestin Hilton, mimosas at Seaside’s Modica Market (they can thank Blair’s wedding for their record sales weekend), live music in Baytowne Wharf, dinner and dancing at the Ocean Club, and much more. Topping off the vacay was a little shopping spree at the adorable Barefoot Princess in Watercolor– You should definitely stop by next time you are on 30a for our favorite brands like Lilly Pulitzer, Milly, Trina Turk, Ella Moss, and more!! Crest 3D White has teamed up with Elle Magazine to show that a pearly white smile is just as important as any fashion accessory or beauty product a girl can own! We had such a fabulous time attending the Crest and Elle Party, Cocktails & Smilestyle, at the Joule Hotel in Dallas last week. The party was on the 5th floor patio of the hotel overlooking downtown Dallas and the new Eye. It was such a glamorous event where fashion bloggers from all over the city gathered to mingle and celebrate, while a lip reader (yes, lip reader) told you everything you needed to know just through the shape of your pucker!
