When it comes to traveling, comfort is definitely my primary focus for dressing. One of my biggest pet peeves is when I see people venturing through the airport looking like they just rolled out of bed in their pajama pants and a college tee. With all of the cozy-chic pieces readily available in retail stores, I think it’s time we all put that look to rest. Whether you choose a great pair of stretch jeans, trendy joggers, chic sneakers, or a classic Vince tee, your travel look will be updated in a snap.
For my recent travel experience, I picked up a new pair of DL1961 stretch skinnys for the journey and paired them with an oversized Free People thermal. I tossed on my favorite floppy hat to give that “put together” look, my floppy combat boots to save my soles from heels, and my favorite leather messenger bag for all of my travel goodies. Check out my travel look and shop some of my favorite cozy looks below for your next journey:

Dinner at Nanea

Over the past three weeks, I have been enjoying an amazing final summer vacation before beginning the “real world” next Monday with my new career. Mid-June, I left Destin, FL to visit my boyfriend in Los Gatos, CA. While visiting him, we traveled up to Lake Tahoe and to Kailua-Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii.
Lake Tahoe
We spent a long weekend at the Ritz Carlton Lake Tahoe for a friends wedding weekend. We stayed on the North Shore and it was an amazing experience. We spent our free time primarily relaxing at the Ritz spa, doing some light hiking, and playing lawn games. As for the wedding, we went to Lahontan the night before the wedding for a cocktail party. After being in hot Dallas and Florida, it was nice to feel the cool air while standing by the fire. The following day, we went to West Shore Café and Inn where the wedding and the reception was held. The venue was on the water and was absolutely gorgeous!

Kukio
Following Lake Tahoe, we had a quick stopover in my boyfriend’s hometown of Los Gatos, CA before we headed to Kukio on the Big Island of Hawaii. Since I had never been to the Big Island before, I was excited to see what it was like. Kevin’s family goes to the island often, so they planned such a fun variety of activities and excursions for me to soak in as much culture of the island as possible! Two of my highlights from the trip were a helicopter tour of the island and snorkeling with the manta rays. The three hour helicopter tour (that picked us up directly from the resort) was a great way to see the volcanoes, valleys, beaches, and waterfalls all before lunch. Snorkling with the manta ray’s was also amazing! We saw about 20 manta rays and rubbed bellies with a couple of them… definitely an experience I will not forget. I also loved all of the activities offered at the resort. While there, I paddle boarded, kayaked, swam with the dolphins, played golf, tennis, and took a spinning class. There was never an excuse to be bored at Kukio!

Practicality is never a strong influence when it comes to women’s fashion. The look is always the leading factor, which is exactly why the new long vest serves solely as a fashion statement. Most people choose a knee-length coat not only because it’s chic, but also because it serves a purpose – to keep you warm on a cold day. The long vest was created to turn even the drabbest outfits into an easy and sophisticated look, without considering the impact of the weather while looking fab. Whether designers choose a structured take on the vest like Vince or a flowy version like Missoni, the long vest is an absolute must.

Growing up as a kid in the 90s, overalls were a solid staple in my wardrobe: jean, velvet, corduroy – you name it. The fad came and went, and we vowed NEVER to wear overalls again… that is, until right now. Overalls are making a strong comeback this Spring with a reinvented shape to add a feminine touch to the slouchy, grunge onesies of our past. With tapered legs and rolled cuffs, this is the fashion trend I dare you try in 2014. Check out some of my favorite new styles:
