Though plaid will forever be a classic, the fabric is making a big statement this season from the preppiest to the edgiest female. Whether tartan reminds you of a sophisticated prep look or a grunge 90s trend, tartan is an absolute must for your wardrobe. I made plaid my statement item for my vacation look by pairing it with a J Crew sweater, black tights, and frye boots. See my plaid look and shop the links below to get my look:

I never thought we would be doing car reviews on the Perennial Style (see our other posts here and here – thanks GM!), but I had so much fun driving the Chevy Volt! As most people know, this is the car you can plug in and drive on electricity. When it arrived at my house, it had about 25 miles of electricity so I drove it around Dallas during the week. Once the electricity was used up, it automatically switched to gas, which was a relief since I’ve always wondered what would happen to an electric car if I couldn’t find a plug! Since my house does not have a garage, I didn’t plug it in again and just used the gas. I was pleasantly surprised when we traveled to Austin and only had to fill up the tank once on the whole journey – $25 roundtrip to Austin? Talk about great gas mileage! As a current Tahoe driver, it was awesome to switch to such an efficient car.

The Volt also had all the fun bells and whistles of new cars- GPS, XM Radio, heated seats, etc. The backseat of the car had bucket seats instead of a bench, which was interesting and extra comfortable. Overall, I was very impressed with the Chevy Volt and thought it was a great value. To learn more about this car, click here.

When it comes to closet staples, blazers are definitely at the top of my list. From the office to a night out, a blazer can add just the touch your outfit needs for any occasion. The oversize shape and gold buttons on this wool blazer I snagged at Saks years ago (try this or this for a similar look) give a casual twist on the traditional jacket, which I absolutely love.

Out of all the seasons of the year, my favorite has finally arrived… BOOT SEASON! Though it may not be considered a “real season”, it still counts in my book. Styles come and go quickly, so it’s important to pay attention to which designer items we decide to invest in. Riding boots will forever be a classic, which is why I just snagged a pair of these Frye boots for the Fall. While I’m dreaming for these super trendy Balenciaga ankle boots, I know in reality it would be smarter for me to order a pair of these instead. Take a peek of some of my favorite Fall boot trends below and see how you can get the look for less!
