Greetings from New York! The past week has been such an amazing whirlwind up here at New York Fashion Week, and I have had such an incredible time with all of these shows, events, and brand meetings, along with exploring the city with all of my favorite bloggers!
Viewing the Lela Rose runway show yesterday at Lincoln Center was definitely one of my highlights thus far! Since I’ve had the opportunity to work with Lela in the past (see here), I was so excited to get a sneak peek of all of her new designs. From her gorgeous florals to her finely tailored pieces, the show was such a feminine and sophisticated display!
For the event, I wore my leather shift dress with a bold statement necklace and my favorite Louboutins for an early Fall look. One trend I have been seeing a lot (not to mention wearing quite a lot!) is leather: pants, tops, skirts, dresses, you name it. It’s safe to say those splurge pieces you snagged last year are good for another season!
Another trend that I keep spotting around New York is braids! Whether you choose a side fishtail braid like mine (courtesy of Tresemme) or a cool braided up-do, this hair trend is definitely one to try out this season for a bold and fun new look!
Check out my look from yesterday’s show. Be sure to stay tuned for more NYFW updates and trends, and follow us on Instagram to join us on our Fashion Week journey!

One of my worst (yet most convenient) habits is to keep a ponytail holder around my wrist. It has gotten to the point where I feel naked without one, but sometimes I forget how much better my outfit would look without an ugly black elastic band wrapped around my wrist. Emi-Jay took the world by storm when they introduced their wrap-tie elastics, and though these feel amazing, my newest obsession is definitely By Lilla!
By Lilla has created a line of hair ties that can also be disguised as jewelry – function & fashion! With pieces such as leather wrapped bands, leather bows with spikes (a favorite), chain headbands that double as necklaces, By Lilla caters to the practical needs of the everyday fashion-forward woman! We had so much fun visiting the brand’s showroom at market and left with so many amazing goodies! Take a look at some of our favorite products and click here to shop the collection!

In today’s digital society, we have come to rely on technology to answer all of our questions in a matter of minutes. For example, OpenTable was created to streamline the process of dinner reservations by providing an online schedule and booking service for almost all restaurants in the area, which erased the need to call multiple restaurants to receive the same results. Following this genius and simplified concept, the BeautyNow App has recently launched to provide a similar service for all of your beauty needs. From hair and nails to plastic surgery and dentistry, BeautyNow App has you covered.
The whole process is as easy as 1-2-3!

I recently used the BeautyNow App app to book a hair appointment in the uptown Dallas area. I typed in my zip code and my preferred time that afternoon, and I had a variety of options to choose from walking distance from my apartment! I was amazed by how easy it was and really enjoyed being able to book appointments without picking up the phone – definitely makes it easier to schedule makeovers at the office without my coworkers hearing! I definitely recommend downloading the FREE app and trying it out.

“No self respecting New York City woman would be caught dead running around Manhattan in a scrunchie.” – Carrie Bradshaw
Well I hate to break it to Carrie, but scrunchies are back! Designers like Marc Jacobs and Missoni have brought the scrunchie back to life in their newest collections. Though the idea of these fluffy, fabric hairbands may initially make you cringe, celebs have already jumped on the scrunchie train. Take a peek at some of the chic new ways to rock this 90’s throwback:

Vanessa Hudgens

Selena Gomez
Jennifer Lopez
Cressida Bonas
I don’t know about you, but I am excited to stock up on some fun scrunchies for the season! Check out my top picks:

Last minute dinner plans and your hair is looking drab from a long day in the office? Meet your new best friend: dry shampoo. I am sure you have already heard about the miracles of dry shampoo, but finding a good one is not an easy task (like the time Janie tried the blonde Bumble and Bumble powder that turned the bathtub black afterwards… no thanks), so after years of searching we have finally found our top two: Oscar Blandi and Pssssst. Whether you prefer luxury or simplicity, these two take the cake. I definitely recommend you add these to your beauty routine:
