Dressing for the office is one subject people ask me about frequently, and my advice is always to find the perfect balance between fashionable and conservative. Just because you may be working in a corporate office doesn’t mean you have to leave all your style at home. I love finding classic “work” pieces with a twist, which is why flared pencil skirts are a favorite of mine. It still has the classic look of a suit skirt, yet the flowy hem as a feminine touch to the basic pencil. I paired it with my favorite J. Crew sweater, which I own in nearly every color – love these! For feminine and classic pieces, Milly is definitely one of my all-time favorite designers. Her prints and shapes are so perfect, and when it comes to shift dresses, Milly nails it every time. I love this new zebra-print dress I snagged recently. Though a zebra-print dress usually sounds a tad overwhelming, the green tones calm the print and give a sophisticated, yet fun, twist on the fabric. Comfort is definitely my key motivator for getting dressed on my days off of work, so I love finding soft, oversized pieces that are easy to toss on for a casual yet chic look. This Milk & Honey sweatshirt is a new favorite of mine, and I see this becoming a staple for my Fall look. I’ve always been slightly weary of hats on myself, but when I found this gray floppy hat (similar) it was love at first sight! Now that I have officially entered the corporate world, I am learning to appreciate the importance of transitional pieces in my closet. Since we attend social events in Dallas almost every single night, I don’t always have time after my commute to stop by my apartment for a wardrobe change. Classic dresses are such a staple in my closet, and by mixing different accessories with the same dress; it’s easy to make one piece appropriate for various occasions!
This LOFT scallop-trimmed shift (similar) is a favorite of mine. I paired it with a J. Crew cardigan, oversized studs, and my Kate Spade chunky pumps for a day at the office, but later changed into my platform Prada pumps, a bold statement necklace, and ditched the cardigan for the Baubles and Blouses event that evening.
