‘Tis the Season! This weekend we are packing our bags and heading to the Smoky Mountains and the Greenbrier for the holidays. Since we are traveling, we had to plan ahead on gifts – therefore, shopping is complete and now it’s time to focus all on entertaining! Looking for a quick and delicious holiday treat? Excite your taste buds with Janie’s favorite peppermint bark. With only 5 simple ingredients and 20 minutes tops, you will have the perfect mix of salty and sweet to cap off both of your cravings!
Ingredients:
2 sticks of butter
1 sleeve of Saltine crackers
Brown sugar
Chocolate chips
Crushed peppermints (or pecans)

Crush the peppermints

Organize the saltine crackers on a baking pan lined with wax paper

Melt the butter and brown sugar over the stove until it forms a liquid consistency

Pour the mixture over the crackers and place in the oven on 350 degrees for 15 minutes

Remove the baking pan and cover the crackers with chocolate chips.

Spread the melted chocolate all over the crackers

Top it off with the crushed peppermints (or pecans)

Cool in the refrigerator
