Greetings from NYFW

Ellen Flowers

Greetings from New York! The past week has been such an amazing whirlwind up here at New York Fashion Week, and I have had such an incredible time with all of these shows, events, and brand meetings, along with exploring the city with all of my favorite bloggers!

Viewing the Lela Rose runway show yesterday at Lincoln Center was definitely one of my highlights thus far! Since I’ve had the opportunity to work with Lela in the past (see here), I was so excited to get a sneak peek of all of her new designs. From her gorgeous florals to her finely tailored pieces, the show was such a feminine and sophisticated display!

For the event, I wore my leather shift dress with a bold statement necklace and my favorite Louboutins for an early Fall look. One trend I have been seeing a lot (not to mention wearing quite a lot!) is leather: pants, tops, skirts, dresses, you name it. It’s safe to say those splurge pieces you snagged last year are good for another season!

Another trend that I keep spotting around New York is braids! Whether you choose a side fishtail braid like mine (courtesy of Tresemme) or a cool braided up-do, this hair trend is definitely one to try out this season for a bold and fun new look!

Check out my look from yesterday’s show. Be sure to stay tuned for more NYFW updates and trends, and follow us on Instagram to join us on our Fashion Week journey!ellen flowers blogger

Layering is one of my favorite (and one of the easiest) ways to add depth to any item. This black and white grid print dress has become such a staple in my closet, due to its classic button-down shape and simple color scheme. By pairing it with this crochet kimono, I gave the dress a boho twist for a concert night in Deep Ellum. The sleeveless shape and comfort fit make it the perfect dress for any season, and I can’t wait to pair some leather leggings, a moto jacket, and some platform ankle booties for an edgy Fall night. Recently I have been on a total romper kick. They have such a playful and flirty look, and not to mention they are the easiest thing to toss on for a night out! I am a huge fan of this floral romper I picked up at Milk & Honey. The flared sleeves have such a 70s vibe, and the ruffle trim is just so feminine. I paired it with a spiked statement necklace for an extra pop – and let’s be honest, I can’t go a day without accessories. Check out my new favorite romper below and click here to shop the look:

Navy Dress Dallas
I love finding classic pieces that I know I can wear for years to come, which is why I am loving this Kate Spade tie back dress I found recently – also try this printed version! I love the feminine and flowy material that can be dressed up or dressed down for any occasion. The high neckline is perfect for adding a bold statement necklace or earring, and the cinced waistline adds shape to the piece. I paired this dress with a fun statement necklace and Kate Spade nude pumps for cocktails at The Stoneleigh this weekend with friends.

multiple ways to wear a romper
Finding a way to look cute and feel comfortable at the same time is the ultimate win in our book, which is why we are loving these rompers from Milk and Honey! The loose-fitted shape keeps it playful and cozy, while the drawstring waist cinches it in to keep a feminine shape! Blair paired her charcoal romper with a Kendra Scott statement necklace and wedges, while Ellen paired hers with a bold gold necklace and edgy gladiator sandals.
