As most people are well-aware, HIV has been an epidemic affecting Africa for quite some time now. With over 260,000 babies born with HIV last year alone, the transmission rate from mother to child during childbirth is largely at fault. Physicians have discovered that with only one pill a day taken by the mother during pregnancy, the child has a 98% chance of being born HIV-free.
John Megrue, of Apax Partners, reached out to Anna Wintour and Diane von Furstenburg to bring Born Free to life. Born Free is a new non-profit that plans to bring funding to African countries to provide women with the medicine they need to help prevent the spread of HIV during pregnancy. What makes this charity different than others is that there is already a solution to the epidemic, therefore this issue can be drastically controlled through raising funds. Born Free is a collaboration of 22 fashion designers to create a collection of mother-daughter apparel produced at a cost-efficient rate to raise money for the cause. The MAC Aids fund plans to match up to $500,000 in proceeds. Designers such as Prada, Versace, Marni, Stella McCartney, Victoria Beckham, among others have contributed.
The Born Free collection is now available on Shopbop. Click here to see the full collection and take a look of some of the pieces below. Go ahead, start shopping! (Did I mention everything is under $245?)

Since I spend nearly every single day of the week dressed up in heels, there’s nothing that feels better than taking the day off to wear something casual and comfy. An oversized hoodie (try this similar one) with my favorite mini backpack was the perfect combination for an afternoon of roaming Dallas. Maybe it’s a bit of nostalgia, but I’m really loving the backpack comeback – snag this, this, or this if you haven’t found yours already!

Mirrored sunglasses are popping up all over the place this season, and it seems designers just can’t get enough of this fun trend. Ever since I purchased my Ray Ban mirrored aviators last summer, I’ve had a hard time convincing myself to wear a different pair. The shape of the aviators are universally flattering and the pop of color adds a little style to every look. The glasses also give a hint of mystery, since no one can see where you are really looking. I’m loving these Karen Walker glasses with the ultra-round lenses, and I think these Wildfox heart-shaped glasses are a must-have for the summer. What do you think of these mirrored sunnies?

It’s hard to deny that backpacks are anything but practical. I mean, who doesn’t love taking a break from a heavy purse every now and then and tossing all their necessities behind them. Whether it reminds me of my childhood adventures or my first day of school, mini backpacks just bring back happy memories. Though this trend may not be for everyone, I’m beyond thrilled to pull out my Gucci mini backpack I picked up in Cannes years ago. How do you feel about this 90s throwback?

Calling Carrie Bradshaw: MULES ARE BACK! Yes, you heard that correctly – those backless, slide-on heels you graciously gave away early in the millennium have made a comeback this season. Though they may resemble a shoe your grandmother would wear to Christmas dinner, don’t be surprised if you are yearning for the new Fendi mules to pair with a pair of cropped cigarette pants for your next happy hour. Check out some of designers newest mules for this season. I have to say 3.1 Phillip Lim nails it with his bold take on the classic shoe. What do you think?
