One thing you may have learned about me is that I am always on board to try out the newest trends. Crop tops, ear cuffs, overalls, scrunchies, you name it. However, I have to admit I am having to ease myself into one of the newest trends hitting the scene this season: the long short. Though Bermuda shorts are not a new trend by any means, considering a pair of slouchy knee-length shorts to be a feminine and daring new look is a bit daunting to me. With so many different shapes and lengths available for these new shorts, it is definitely possible to find the right shape and style for any size with a little trial and error. Take a look at some of the new looks below and tell me what you think. Like I said, they are growing on me. Are you in?

With only one day left until my final exam and one week until my SMU graduation (YAY!), my mind has already switched to summer mode. My summer style is always colorful and casual, which is why J. I’ve never been much of a pattern person, but I just can’t get enough of prints on prints this season! I think it all started with this little number (available here), but I am just instantly drawn to matching separates right now. When I spotted this blue and white short suit from Milk & Honey, it was love at first sight. I love the way the blazer gives a tailored look to the outfit, but tying in the matching shorts makes it the perfect set to toss on for a casual night out with the girls. See how I styled my short suit and see some of my other favorite picks below!

One of our favorite aspects of living in Dallas is the countless events and openings that occur every single week. We stopped by one of my new favorite stores, Planet Bardot, for their recent launch party and had such a blast. Don’t get me wrong, I love shopping at luxury department stores, but I definitely consider myself to be more of a boutique shopper. Planet Bardot has a wonderful location right on Knox St, and they have everything I need for any occasion. It’s the perfect spot to pop in for new candles, FREECITY loungewear, or just some fabulous new pieces for your closet! I stopped in one afternoon after a brunch at Taverna and the employees are absolutely wonderful. With brands like Fornasetti, Helmut Lang, Rebecca Taylor, and Joie, Planet Bardot is definitely a go-to for all things trendy.

Be sure to snag a pair of our favorite Yosi Samra flats!

Are you a lover of J. Crew but sometimes hate the prices that seem to keep rising with each season? Well, you are not alone, and J. Crew is taking your needs into account! Behold, J. Crew Mercantile: the offspring of our favorite line which is in the works to bring a similar style to shoppers, but with a price point more along the lines of the J. Crew Factory Stores. What differentiates Mercantile from our favorite factory stores is the fact that these new stores will be situated in some of our favorite malls around the nation, rather than having to drive out of the city to scout out the outlet malls. Millard Drexler, CEO of J. Crew, once introduced Old Navy as a more affordable line of Gap, so we can only hope Mercantile will launch with that same success! With already a few leases signed and more locations in the works, we cannot wait to see what Mercantile will bring for all of our savvy shoppers!
