Catch Me If You Can: A movie that makes you feel like you’ve boarded a Greyhound Bus to travel the country every time you take a look at today’s hideous flight attendant uniforms. Ill-fitting frumpy suits and chunky one-inch pumps… What ever happened to the glamour and style of the old-school flight attendants we see in the movies? It’s time for a change!
Richard Branson, founder of Virgin Airlines, is the man we can thank for this change! Branson has collaborated with Vivienne Westwood (a woman who needs no introduction) to redesign the flight attendant uniform. Women will wear Westwood’s iconic red suit influenced by 1940’s French couture, nipped at the waist with double pleats. The men’s uniform will be a new version of the 3-piece burgundy suit originally made famous by London’s Saville Row. Peanuts anyone?
The new uniforms will be tested later this summer and will launch in early 2014. Say hello to flying in style!
