Taking items to a seamstress whenever they need a nip or a tuck is always great in theory, but generally I take matters into my own hands to update an item. Whether it’s cutting a shorter hem, removing unwanted sleeves or ruffles, or dying favorite items to a different hue (see here), I have a habit of DIY alterations.
Jeans have come a long way from the days of skinny vs. flare, light wash vs. dark wash, as virtually every style of denim is in style this season. With the return of the 70s and finding an overwhelming amount of boyfriend jeans in my closet, I decided to patch up my own pair to add some variety to my collection. Though patched denim isn’t necessarily a style everyone will love this season, I think it’s such a fun and colorful way to add a little pop to any outfit.
