Weekly Skincare Routine: 6 Steps For A Glowing Complextion

weekly skincare routine steps2

In my early twenties, my beauty routine consisted simply of a face scrub during my morning shower, a quick moisturizer before putting on makeup, and a drug store face wipe before bed. Simple, easy, no fuss. However as I’ve gotten older, I’ve noticed my skin needs a bit more TLC than it used to. There are so many factors that can play a role in a dull complexion – such as added stress, a lack of sleep, dehydration, wine night with the girls, etc. While it’s inevitable our skin will suffer during certain circumstances, dedicating time to a skincare routine can help bring back that glow!

I shared a post about my morning skincare routine (click here), but today I wanted to share my weekly skincare routine. What I love most about a weekly skincare routine is that I can choose a night to pamper myself – what girl doesn’t love an excuse to toss on a face mask and tune into her favorite Netflix shows?

Keep reading to see my six super easy beauty steps that will make you feel rejuvenated and refreshed!

MY WEEKLY SKINCARE ROUTINE:

EXFOLIATE

The easiest way to improve your complexion is exfoliating. A great exfoliator can get rid of dead skin cells and reveal brighter, more youthful skin underneath. While I use a light exfoliator everyday in the shower, I love to use an exfoliating scrub once a week with my Clarisonic for a deep cleanse.

USE A FACE MASK

Moisturizes and serums are great, but nothing makes my skin feel quite as soft as a face mask. A quick 15 minute face mask (cream or sheet mask) is a refreshing dose of moisture and rejuvenating ingredients to leave your skin glowing and silky soft!

USE AN AT-HOME PEEL

An at-home peel is basically exfoliating to the extreme. The chemical ingredients in a peel can lift the dead skin cells and dirt from deep in the skin to reveal a more youthful complexion. While peels may sound intimidating, they’re quick, easy, and gentle on the skin!

CLEAN YOUR BEAUTY BRUSHES AND SPONGES

It may be icky to think about, but our makeup brushes can actually contain a lot of bacteria. In order to prevent unwanted breakouts from our makeup tools, it’s best to wash your brushes once a week. It only takes a couple minutes, but your skin will thank you later!

EXERCISE

Sometimes it’s tempting to skip the workout, but hitting the gym at least three times a week can really make a difference with your skin. From sweating out toxins to keeping skin firm, an active lifestyle will help improve your complexion.

CHANGE YOUR SHEETS

This may seem like a no-brainer, but changing your sheets (even twice) a week will help your skin. Why take the time to wash and moisturize your face to then go sleep on a dirty pillow? Make sure to change your sheets at least once a week – and if you really want to improve your skin while you sleep, use a silk pillowcase.
