Mar del Cabo: A Picturesque Boutique Retreat In Los Cabos

Mar del Cabo

Dreaming of your next getaway? Discover Mar del Cabo: a picturesque retreat along the Baja Peninsula in Los Cabos.

There’s nothing that gives me more joy than booking a last minute getaway to Mexico, and I love staying somewhere new every time. There are so many fabulous hotels to experience, and I love making every trip a new adventure. For our trip, we booked 3 nights at the Mar del Cabo boutique hotel, and 3 nights at the all-inclusive Grand Velas Resort next door (read more about Grand Velas Resort here). I highly recommend this combo, because it allowed us to have two amazing yet distinct experiences on our trip – plus the Mar del Cabo is a fraction of the cost of Grand Velas, so it’s an easy way to make the best of your vacation and cut back on costs!

The Mar del Cabo went through an extensive $4 million renovation in 2019 and is the sixth property within the Velas Resorts family. The boutique feel of the property is oh-so-charming, and the white and blue color scheme ornamented with vibrant florals and greenery brings a Santorini-esque vibe to this coastal getaway. The property offers 46 one and two bedroom suites, as well as 2 penthouses, giving the property an intimate and smaller feel, perfect for enjoying the serenity of the sea.

We started each morning with breakfast at the hotel’s Encanto Restaurant overlooking the Sea of Cortez, and we dined poolside in the afternoons. Encanto features a mix of Baja-inspired dishes with a Mediterranean flair, and we loved trying all of their fresh and organic dishes on the menu! Since Cabo has so many amazing restaurants, we loved dining out each evening – and Flora Farms is always our top pick! If you’re looking for an extra experience to add to your trip, we loved chartering Craic Yacht for a sunset cruise (read more here) – and we can’t rave enough about the crew!

What I loved about the hotel were the apartment-style hotel rooms, which makes this a fabulous place to stay with friends, family, or another couple. Also, the layout is perfect if you plan to bring a babysitter for your family getaway. My friend, Whitney, and I shared a room, and I loved how we each had our own bedroom and bathroom – plus the kitchen and living room were perfect for wine and games with the other girls!

The Mar del Cabo is the perfect hotel to truly relax and unwind. Without the crowds of larger resorts, you feel as though you have the entire property to yourself – and it was an absolute dream.
