UPPAbaby VISTA V2: Is It Worth The Splurge?

UPPABABY VISTA V2 review

When I was pregnant with Frances, it was so overwhelming (yet SO exciting!) to think about all the upcoming expenses between decorating a nursery, childcare, and then of course all the gear that is necessary to have a newborn! I read so many blogs about motherhood, pregnancy must-haves, gear reviews, tips for raising a newborn, and so much more. It was so helpful, but I learned no matter how much I prepared, I learned the most through personal experience and finding what worked best for my lifestyle and what my daughter needed.

I splurged on a few items and was budget-conscious on others, including my first stroller.  I found a very comparable stroller to the UPPAbaby VISTA V2, but it was less expensive and I decided this would be great for what I needed.  It was sturdy, eventually could have 2 seats, similar weight to the VISTA, and overall, I thought all strollers were made equally.

… I was wrong.

When Frances was about 6 months, I upgraded my stroller to the UPPAbaby VISTA V2 stroller, and I quickly realized should have gotten the VISTA from day one – I was blown away by the difference! While it was a splurge and my original stroller worked great as well, today I wanted to share my honest thoughts comparing the two:

Maneuverability

The easiest comparison would be that our first stroller feels like an old suburban, and the UPPAbaby VISTA stroller feels like a smooth Mercedes.  It’s amazing the difference.  The weights were nearly the same, but the VISTA is much easier to push and maneuver which is incredibly important!

Cup Holder

This seems trivial, but the VISTA has a cup holder attachment which is a game changer.  My first stroller couldn’t attach a true cup holder and had a caddy bag that hooked onto the handle which they claimed would hold a drink.  If I wanted to stroll with a coffee, it would leak everywhere.  I take Frances on so many strolls, and I underestimated the importance of a cup holder. Trust me, this is huge.

Flexibility To Have Two Babies

Most of my friends have the VISTA, so if we want to go to the Zoo we can hook on the extra seat and only have one stroller to push around.  Not many people had my stroller, so it was slightly inconvenient.

My sister, Janie, also has the UPPAbaby VISTA V2, so it’s great for us to use together – plus when our mom watches the girls together, she can easily stroll them to lunch or on their afternoon shopping outings.

Folding

The VISTA folds down nicely.  My lower priced one didn’t stand up when folded, so it got scratched very quickly and looked older than it truly was.

Design

There is no doubt the VISTA is the prettiest stroller on the market.  I love the color options, the stainless frame, and the leather handle.  It feels luxurious!

Bassinet

The VISTA comes with a bassinet option, which the baby can also sleep in as a newborn.  My original stroller didn’t have a bassinet, so I bought an infant insert which worked fine, but I know my baby would have been more comfortable in the bassinet.

Plus, she could have slept in the bassinet at night with the UPPAbaby Bassinet stand, which means I could have saved money on the separate bassinet I bought and hardly used.

Attachments

What I love most about the UPPAbaby VISTA V2 stroller is the wide array of attachments I can add on to my stroller. In addition to the cup holder, extra seat, and bassinet, there are so many options to elevate your stroller to fit your lifestyle. We love the car seat adapter, snack tray, parent organizer, and cozy ganoosh for winter days.

While the UPPAbaby VISTA V2 is a splurge, overall, I think the VISTA is the best purchase I made for as a new mom. Best of all, it holds its value really well, so you could later resell it second hand. Everyone I know loves their UPPAbaby VISTA, and I can’t recommend it enough!
