While this post is in partnership with Finnair, the opinions expressed are my own.
Looking for a new destination to add to your travel list? I highly recommend Finland!
Ever since my sister, Janie, and I attended a dinner with the Finnair team last year to celebrate the new Business Class reveal, I had been eager to hop on a flight for the full experience – and I am happy to report, it was even better than I imagined!
When I had the opportunity to travel with Finnair to experience the newly redesigned Business Class seats on their international flights, I called my travel buddy, Brooke, to join me on an incredible girls getaway throughout Finland and Estonia. (Note: Sweden was on the itinerary, but we loved Finland so much that we changed plans right before boarding the flight!)
We flew Finnair between every destination we visited, and we loved experiencing each different aircraft – including a small propeller plane between Estonia and Helsinki. I was so impressed with Finnair, and I will absolutely choose this as my preferred flight carrier anytime I have the option!
The entire journey was incredible from start to finish, and I am so excited to share all of our travel content with you to map out the best European itinerary. To start, let’s discover why you need to book a Business Class seat on Finnair!
THE AIRPORT & LOUNGES:
As soon as we arrived at DFW, check-in was a breeze. While the airport was busy, we were able to walk directly up to the Finnair Priority check-in counter, drop off our two free checked bags, and begin our journey!
One (of the many) perks of flying Business Class on Finnair is you have access to the airport lounges. The Capital One Lounge at DFW was located in close proximity to our gate, so we checked in and enjoyed the complimentary fare and cocktails! The lounge itself was beautiful with an abundance of blush-colored decor, a huge buffet of delicious cuisine, a full bar with fabulous cocktails, a yoga room (which we did not explore), free wifi, and more.
In addition, we had access to the Finnair Lounge in the Helsinki Airport, and it was equally as great with multiple bars, another huge buffet, snack selections, free wifi and more. Safe to say, this girl LOVES a good airport lounge!
BOARDING:
Traveling on Business Class allows you to board in Group 1 and settle into your seat before take off. As soon as you enter the aircraft, you are greeted with a Refreshment Bar, which sets the tone for the entire flight.
After getting comfortable and ready for the journey, we were offered a hot towel and a glass of bubbly before takeoff. Cheers!
THE SEATS:
The seats are aligned in a 1:2:1 configuration. Since Brooke and I were traveling together, our seats were next to each other, which made the flight so much fun! The seats along the window are angled towards the window for privacy, while the seats in the center are aligned towards each other for easy conversation. The seats have a dividing partition, which we kept down to chat along the way, but we were able to raise the partition with the push of a button to have separate spaces when we were ready to sleep or watch a movie.
The seats on Finnair are much wider than the other Business Class flights I’ve experienced, and I loved how much space I had to stretch out during the flight. Even though our flight was long, I was incredibly comfortable and enjoyed the experience!
What is unique about Finnair’s Business Class is that the seats do not recline, but rather the seats offer a longer space that opens up to a full bed – complete with a mattress pad, a Marimekko duvet, and two pillows. The seats have a curved design that are ultra comfortable for working, dining, or watching a movie.
The seat had a pop out section with USB connectors, a remote control for the television, and premium Bose noise-canceling headphones. I also loved how the armrest had a cordless charging station that allowed me to keep my phone charged without getting tangled in cords throughout the flight.
Our seat also came with a Marimekko amenity kit filled with a sleep mark, lip balm, toothbrush and paste, slippers, and other essentials.
THE CUISINE:
While airline food used to have a bad reputation when meals were standard on even short flights, I am pleased to share that the Finnair cuisine was delicious! Each of our international flights provided a three-course Nordic meal of choice served on beautiful dinnerware designed specifically for the airline by Finnish designers Harri Koskinen and Iittala. We also had an extensive list of complimentary cocktails and wine to enjoy throughout the flight, which we definitely enjoyed before our long slumber.
Since reindeer is a delicacy in Finland, Brooke decided to try this as one of her courses on the flight – whereas I chose the vegetarian route!
OVERALL OPINION:
Five stars! From check-in to landing, we had such an incredible experience on Finnair, and I highly recommend you try their new Business Class Flights for your next journey. While it’s uncommon to say a flight is one of the highlights of a trip, we had so much fun on aboard Finnair and can’t wait to book another flight!
