Why You Should Use A Korean Skincare Regimen

When it comes to skincare, it’s easy to be overwhelmed with the plethora of products on the market. From serums to cleansers, luxury to drug store, how do you know which skincare regimen is best for your needs?  Well my friends, we are super excited to introduce you to our latest favorite: Julep’s K-Beauty Skincare Must-Haves.

We’ve heard about Korean skincare regimens for quite some time, but we knew very little about it until recently. After doing a bit of research we learned a Korean skincare regimen can actually be up to 20 steps! Now I don’t know about you, but I can confidently say I don’t have time twice a day to implement a 20-step routine. Luckily for us, Julep founder, Jane Park, set out to simplify this process for us in three easy steps: cleanse, nourish, and protect.

While I love makeup wipes (let’s be real, some days I’m lazy), this method isn’t helping my skin at all. It may remove the surface layer of makeup, but it’s also removing moisture – and moisturizing our skin is the most important step to maintaining young and healthy skin! The number one rule of Korean skincare is to be gentle with your skin and to avoid harsh chemicals. Julep’s three step regimen not only removes makeup and residue, but it helps rejuvenate my skin throughout the day with natural oils and SPF protection.

Step 1: Detoxifying Cleansing Balm Stick

The Detoxifying Cleansing Balm Stick is one of my favorite skincare products I’ve discovered yet. Packed with pomegranate fruit enzymes and rosehip seed oil, this product deep cleans and soothes your skin.  The unique cleansing stick is super portable and spill-free for traveling – perfect for preventing a mess in a new cosmetic bag!

Simply wet your hands, rub the balm into your palms, massage onto your face like any cleanser, and rinse. The rice bran oil removes impurities and the pomegranate enzymes gently exfoliates your skin, while rosehip and camellia seed oils add a boost of soothing hydration.

Step 2: Reparative Rosehip Seed Face Oil

If you’ve never implemented an oil into your skincare routine, this is one product we now swear by. Oils are essential to a Korean skincare regimen, and the Reparative Rosehip Seed Face Oil has a light (non-greasy) formula that sinks quickly into your skin. The oil contains Vitamin E to protect against dehydration and radical damage, while the Rosehip Oil reduces the appearance of fine lines, scars, and hyperpigmentation. Known as the “wonder booster”, this product gives your skin that glow and radiance we all love!

Step 3: No Excuses Invisible Sunscreen Gel

We’ve said it time and again, but please wear your sunscreen. Wearing sunscreen is not only essential to protecting yourself from the dangers of skin cancer, but it’s also vital to keeping your skin healthy and glowing in the future.

While there are a lot of sunscreens on the market, we absolutely love the No Excuses Invisible Sunscreen Gel. The clear, lightweight formula absorbs instantly in our skin, preventing that heavy beach-day residue we all too familiar with. The gel provides SPF 40 protection from both UVA and UVB rays, so we apply this religiously every morning before beginning our makeup routine.
