Before I added Bratislava to my road trip itinerary, I honestly knew nothing about the city. Whether or not you’ve visited London or Paris, you’ve probably heard chatter about where to stay or what to do. Bratislava, Slovakia on the other hand – this was a destination that was completely foreign to me, which ultimately is why I was so excited to explore.
What I loved most about Bratislava is that it felt untapped. There was so much to explore, such a unique culture, and so many hidden gems I can’t wait to share with you guys! I’ll be sharing a city guide soon, but today I want to highlight why I recommend The Roset House Boutique Hotel as my pick for where to stay in Bratislava.
[ Note: The Tulip House Boutique Hotel changed its name to the Roset Boutique Hotel in September 2017 ]
What I love most about boutique hotels is that every hotel has a completely different vibe and story – a certain history that helps you learn more about the city from the second you check in. This remained true for my stay at The Roset Boutique Hotel, as the hotel was originally built in 1903. The original Art Nouveau style hotel exterior combines its original design with updated rooms and modern facilities. After hours in a car traveling from Budapest to Bratislava, we absolutely loved checking into our huge suite! This was by far the largest hotel room I’ve had in Europe with it’s expansive living room, spacious bedroom, built-in wardrobe, and high ceilings.
The Roset Boutique Hotel is in a prime location for walking around the city and exploring. We valeted our car when we arrived and didn’t use it again until we left. The hotel is located directly between the new city centre and the historical city centre, so you can easily stroll the Danube, visit the Bratislava Castle, catch a show at the Slovak National Theatre, shop, eat, go out, you name it. The hotel also offers a spa, fitness center, business center, and a delicious restaurant for dining. To enjoy the city, grab a glass of wine and relax on the terrace for a bit of fresh air.
Whether you plan a trip to Bratislava or simply stop through on a road trip, I highly recommend The Roset Boutique Hotel. Check out my photos below to see more of my stay!

Do you ever have those days where you have absolutely nothing to wear? You find yourself staring into a closet packed with clothes, but yet nothing strikes your fancy? This is the story of my life.
I find when I’m lazy I always go for the same LBD, but when I grow tired of the classic black dress, it’s time to get a bit more creative. One trick I’ve found that ALWAYS helps me throw the perfect outfit together is to put on a pair of heels and a solid color crop top. First of all, finding something to wear in heels is always easier – we all know that. No matter what skirt I grab or pair of high-waist jeans I pull out, a crop top always makes any outfit look chic.
While my closet is slammed with crop tops, this wrap crop top is my new favorite for summer. It’s flirty and feminine, plus the wrap detail gives a bit more oomph to the classic top! I paired it with this embellished wrap skort and my everyday BudhaGirl bracelets for dinner in the Dallas Arts District. To switch it up, I also love pairing it with high-waist white flares and statement earrings. It’s the easiest top to style, and it’s so incredibly versatile – Trust me, it’s a wardrobe must!

If I could have the option to move anywhere in the world, I have no doubt I would choose to move to Slovenia. Why? Well it’s one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited. The country itself is absolutely breath-taking with historic castles, the Julian Alps, and so many charming cities – each with their own unique style. While I’ll share more about the country soon, today I want to share where I stayed during one of my stops on my road trip: the Urban Hotel in Ljubljana. If you’re not familiar with Ljubljana, it’s the capital of Slovenia and one of the most bustling cities in the country.
Situated just a few hundred meters from the city center, Urban Hotel is a hidden gem surrounded by shops, restaurants, bars, and an outdoor park. The contemporary design and jewel-tone color scheme of the hotel combines the “popular bourgeois style with modern facilities”.

If you’ve never heard of Urban Hotel, that’s probably because it’s one of the city’s newest boutique hotels, and we were one of the first guests to stay there! The hotel is located in one of the city’s historic high-rises dating back to 1938, which has housed many distinguished individuals over the years. While Urban Hotel is new to the building, it was designed to maintain the beauty of the historic property with its elegant staircases and architectural charm.
The hotel itself is quite small (compared to larger chain hotels in the city), but that’s what I loved most about it. The concierge was always available to help guide us through the city, offer recommendations, and confirm dinner reservations. Best of all, they greeted us by name every time we passed through the lobby – which is a small touch that really goes a long way!

One of my favorite amenities of the hotel was the free cell phone they gave me upon arrival. While this may not seem like a necessary luxury in the states, the phone is equipped with GPS, recommended hot spots and information, as well as the ability to place calls. Since I relied solely on WiFi to use my phone on my trip, it was so nice to GPS to guide me through the city!
Aside from the amenities and design, the location of the Urban Hotel can’t be beat. We were steps away from the famous Three Bridges and the old town and Plecnik Marketplace, as well as endless restaurants, bars, and shopping. Considering we had been driving all over Europe since we landed in Budapest, it was so nice to be able to walk everywhere in the city.

Next time you plan a trip to Ljubljana, I highly recommend checking out the Urban Hotel. Click here to learn more about the hotel!

When it comes to traveling, I like to think I’ve mastered the art of finding discounted flights, hotels deals, etc. However, after two rental car mishaps, I decided it was time to do some research to see what in the world I was missing. Originally I booked both rentals through a large online search engine. The first one I didn’t pre-pay and chose an economy full-sized sedan. While it seemed like a good price, when I returned the car I was SHOCKED to discover the fees and additional charges had doubled the original price of the car. Lesson learned: pre-pay.
On my second rental, I decided to pre-pay for a compact car. While the price was phenomenal, my car was so compact that my friends wouldn’t stop referring to it as the “Tic Tac mobile”. This white ultra-compact SUV was by far the smallest vehicle I’ve ever driven, and my suitcase wouldn’t even fit in the backseat. Lesson learned: request a desired car.

Now I am not a car snob by any means, but if I’m paying for a rental car for my vacation, I like to get the most bang for my buck. If I can rent a luxury car for the same price as an economy car, why not choose the better option? Everyone loves traveling in style, so whether you own a BMW at home or simply want an upgrade to treat yourself on vacay, booking a premium car at an economy price makes everything so much better!
So the question remains, how do you book a premium car at an economy price? The answer is simple: Sixt Rent A Car.

Outfit Details: Maxi Dress
If you’ve never heard of Sixt Rent A Car, it’s because the company didn’t launch in the US until 2011. Sixt was originally started in Germany over 100 years ago, and now has over 4,000 locations in over 105 countries making it the largest premium rental car company!
What makes Sixt the best are the car rental options available online. Say goodbye to compact cars, and hello to Mercedes G Wagons & Range Rovers! With Sixt, you can find a full array of premium cars at a variety of accessible price points. Choose a Jaguar Convertible for your wine-tasting weekend in Napa or a BMW X5 for a weekend in the mountains with friends. With so many great options, you can really travel in style. Best of all, if you plan to travel with friends, splitting the cost among the group makes the rate even better!

Since Sixt is an international company, it’s super easy to use when you plan to leave the country! We partnered with Sixt for our recent Eastern European road trip, and the entire process was a breeze! We reserved a BMW 5 Series and picked it up at the Budapest airport. The process was just like any US rental, and since we completed all of the information online in advance, we simply gave our passports, signed a form, and hit the road! Since our luxury car had built-in GPS, we easily traveled through Hungary, Slovakia, Austria, and Slovenia in our rental. Renting a car internationally really has never been easier.
(Tip: We got an international drivers license before the trip to be safe. You can get this at your local AAA branch!)

Outfit Details: Dress // Heels
Since I learned it’s always best to pre-pay for rental cars, I highly recommend pre-paying with Sixt as well. This will allow you to get up to 25% off your rental – which is incredible!
Whether you’re planning a quick work trip or a getaway with friends, skip the boring economy cars and spice up your journey with Sixt. Trust us, you’ll love it!

Outfit Details: Tee // Leggings // Sneakers

When you combine fashion and travel, is there really anything better?
If you’ve ever been to Budapest, you know there are two distinct sides to the city: Buda and Pest. While I’ll dive into the city a bit more later, today I want to share one of the most charming boutique hotels I stayed in during my recent road trip through Europe: Baltazar Budapest.
Nestled in the beautiful Buda Castle district, Baltazar brings a modern flair to the historic side of the city. This family-owned boutique hotel definitely caters to the interests of design-lovers, with interiors inspired by Vivienne Westwood, Andy Warhol, and Jean-Michel Basquiat to name a few. The bold decor combined with the rich reds definitely stands out amongst the traditional aspects of this quaint district, and it feels like the perfect hideaway from the bustling city!

What makes this hotel so unique is that it only offers 11 rooms and suites, so it provides an intimate experience. The concierge takes initiative to call you by name and provide a tailored stay to guarantee the best time in Budapest.
I stayed in the Deluxe Suite, and absolutely loved my room. The rooms combined modern and vintage furnishings with king beds and plush linens. The bathrooms featured handcrafted local limestone, rain shower heads, and luxury bath products by L’Occitane – my favorite!

Since Baltazar is located in one of the top Gastronomic Quarters of Budapest, it’s no surprise the hotel restaurant is top notch. With traditional hungarian fare, an extensive Eastern European wine list, and some of the best gins in the world, you can have a delicious meal without even leaving the hotel! I made it a routine to stop by the Baltazar Grill once a day for a glass of rose. The bistro feel in the heart of the Buda Castle District was absolutely amazing, and if I had my way, I would partake in this everyday!
Next time you plan a trip to Budapest, be sure to consider Baltazar Budapest. I had an amazing experience, and I definitely hope to stay here again! (Also, check out Baltazar’s sister hotel, Pest-Buda! It provides a similar vibe and is right around the corner!)

And ok, I know it’s abnormal to see a fleet of Hungarian soldiers on horseback out front, but it was so fun that I had to share!
Thank you Baltazar Budapest for partnering with me on this post.
