Meet Lucy Dang: dubbed “the Southern Vera Wang”, Lucy brings a fresh and sophisticated air of design to formalwear. Specializing in breathtaking evening gowns and feminine cocktail dresses, Lucy Dang is one designer you need to know. I had the opportunity to sit down with Lucy in her Dallas showroom to learn more about her line, the inspiration behind her designs, and steal a sneak peek at her newest collection. Not only are all of these wonderful pieces sketched locally, all of her pieces are hand-sewn in her showroom by their wonderful team. Though it was hard to choose a favorite from her line, I have to say I am absolutely in love with her evening gowns like this, this, and this! Check out our interview below to learn a bit more about this up and coming designer and click here to visit her site for more looks:
When did you decide that you wanted to become fashion designer?
I knew I wanted to be a designer at a very young age. My parents and I are originally from Vietnam. We moved over when I was two. Every Christmas, the church that sponsored us over to the states gave gifts to all the kids and I remember one year specifically. I was three and half and I received a package. Inside was this fluffy blue dress. I can remember thinking “I love this,” and that is when I knew it was meant for me.
Where are your clothes manufactured?
Dallas, TX
Where can we purchase your clothes?
Our clothes can be found in boutiques such as: Runway Couture, Eleanor Schain, and Lisa Moran to name a few. You can also find us in Belk.
Tell us about your relationship with Belk:
In 2013, we won the Belk Southern Designer Showcase, which landed us our own spot in all of the flagship stores for our Spring/Summer 2013 Lady by Lucy Dang line. The reason we won the Belk competition was because they were looking for Southern Designers that met with their branding, which is modern Southern style. Working with Belk has been a great and very educational experience. We have learned a lot from them and we will be participating in their first Trunk Show in October. We are very grateful for all they’ve done for us and with us!
What is the inspiration behind your latest collection?
Peruvian textiles and colors. Destination and resort theme like being on a vacation. Because I needed to get out of here and take a vacation.
Your evening gowns are absolutely stunning! Would you say this is your primary focus of your line?
Yes, we are an evening-wear company. Evening and cocktail gowns are what we love to do.
Do you have any advice for anyone looking to create their own line in the future?
Yes, Intern! Learn as much from other designers as possible and ASK QUESTIONS! And it’s important to pay your dues.
What is one piece of advice you have heard that has resonated most with you?
When you are ready to make a decision but only 60% sure, take the shot. -Colin Powell

I am so excited to share with you all the newest (used) handbag boutique in Dallas! One of my sweet friends, Kristen Donnell, created Keek’s after spending several years at Goldman Sachs as an analyst. Keek’s is a boutique in North Dallas that buys and sells designer handbags. They have everything including Louis Vuitton, Hermes, Coach, Tory Burch, Chanel, etc. Basically it’s the Neiman Marcus handbag department with permanent sale prices… yes please!
Kristen has a very impressive authentication process, so they never buy or sell anything that is fake- ever! In the off chance that a fake slips by and you purchase it, they will refund 100% of the purchase price and give you a 25% store credit too. Talk about standing behind your item, right?! Keek’s is very determined to sell a good product at a good price for everyone who wants that designer bag, but not the designer price tag! Also, if you have handbags that you no longer want, they will typically purchase it for 40-50% of the retail price or even more if you want store credit. I hope everyone can visit the Keek’s on Preston Road and find that perfect bag you’ve been coveting!
Be sure to follow them here and here to see new handbags daily. Check out Kristen’s debut on CBS news to learn even more about Keek’s!

Her combination of nature and sparkle is just one of the many reasons why I adore Rory Ashton’s handmade jewelry collections. After her years at FIDM in Los Angeles, this Dallas native headed home to her roots to launch her jewelry line, most recognizably known for her crystal cluster, wire-wrapped hoops – a favorite of mine! Apart from her contagious personality and impeccable style, Rory’s talent truly captivates the mix of statement and everyday beauty through her signature pieces. The inspiration behind a designer’s collection always fascinates me, so I loved speaking with Rory recently about her newest collection launch, “Stained Glass”. Check out our interview below to learn more about Rory and be sure to shop her collections online here!

Name: Rory Ashton
Current City: Dallas, TX
Where can we buy your jewelry?
In Dallas, I recommend shopping my collection at Stanley Korshak, L. Bartlett, Flirt, Hemline, Bask & Mal Malouf. These stores usually have an up to date inventory of the latest designs. You can also purchase my pieces online here.
What was the inspiration for your latest collection?
I came upon these gorgeous, Italian imported rosary centers and was really captivated by their timeless beauty. I created the latest collection “Stained Glass” Fall/Winter ’14 with the elegance and depth of color found in the gorgeous churches around the world. Each piece is named after the cities and countries these churches reside in.

What is your go-to piece of jewelry?
Currently I wear my Stained Glass Necklace almost every day. I love the “Mykonos” rose gold and pearl color way. I feel that I have been able to wear it with everything. I like to layer it with my classic “Dainty Quartz”necklace (that I rarely take off).
Who are some of your favorite designers?
Right now I am really loving what For Love Of Lemmons is doing with lace. When it comes to comfy, Free People always does it for me.
What is one product you are currently coveting?
I am currently obsessed with Herbivore Botanicals, Luminous Body Oil in the Egyptian Jasmine.
What is your favorite part about living in Dallas?
It is actually something I think most people hate- I cherish the comfort the city offers. I love constantly running into people that I know. After living in LA and never seeing the same person twice, there is a unique warmth Dallas offers.
Favorite brunch spot in Dallas?
R&D Kitchen
What is one thing in your closet that you can’t live without?
My YSL “Tribute” platform sandal
Do you have any advice for our readers?
When it comes to boys… “The flower doesn’t dream of the bee, it blossoms and the bee comes.” (favorite quote)

Jumpsuits have become one of my favorite styles to wear recently, and whether it’s the retro vibe or simply the ease of getting dressed, I keep catching myself stocking up on these onesies. Since I am on the shorter side (and like to fake off my height with 5 inch platforms), flared jumpsuits are definitely my preferred fit. A tapered leg can give such a sophisticated look, but for any jumpsuit rookie, I totally recommend a flared leg. I love this midnight blue one I picked up recently (similar: this or this), as the loose shape and fit is insanely comfortable and perfect for those “I have no idea what to wear” days. The next jumpsuit I plan on snagging is either this one or this one by DVF – hands down, the most flattering ones I’ve seen yet! See how I styled mine below and check out my list of favorites beneath!

There’s nothing we love more than getting all dolled up, so we had so much fun when Blushington invited us in to learn all about their new summer beauty tips! Getting into an everyday beauty routine is easy, but every now and then, it’s nice to find ways to spruce it up and add a little fun to your look. Learning all about how to contour our faces with a highlighting powder was definitely a new trick I plan on trying at home! From cat-eyes to bold lip colors and bronzers, we thoroughly enjoyed the subtle updates to our everyday looks. When getting a makeover at Blushington, be sure to request the temporary eyelash extension add on – It will give your eyes that ultimate pop you’ve been desiring! So worth it.
