Last week we attended the Baubles & Blouses event at the Prashe Showroom in the design district to celebrate fashion, jewelry, and design. Designer Shona Gilbert debuted her newest collections, Shambhala and BollyRocks, from her line SHONA. The colorful pieces were inspired by Prashe Shah’s colorful collections, as well as from her extensive traveling experiences.
As we sipped champagne and mingled through the showroom, we had so much fun trying on the beautiful, vibrant jewelry pieces! Blair left with a pair of gorgeous gold statement earrings that were just to DIE for, and I had a hard time leaving without one of the elaborate hand chains. Apart from learning about the jewelry collections and the clothing sample sale, we also enjoyed exploring the event space. From the hundreds of beautiful flowers to the fabric draped ceilings and elaborate table settings, we were in awe of the elegant showroom!
Take a look at some of our pictures from the event and be sure to visit the SHONA website and the Prashe Showroom website to learn more!

Last week, I had the opportunity to meet with Ese Azenabor (thanks, Allison Volk!) at her showroom in the Dallas Market Center. I had so much fun getting to know Ese and learning more about the inspiration behind her amazing designs. We were so sad to miss her Phantom of the Runway fashion show in June due to traveling, so getting a one-on-one with the designer was so exciting! I have to say I was completely blown away with her pieces, and can’t stop dreaming about all of her hand-beaded dresses that I would just love to have in my closet!
The Nigerian-born designer’s collections are heavily influenced by her culture, and her extravagant beading showcases her artistic ability through her attention to detail and one-of-kind designs. I was head over heels for everything from her gorgeous evening gowns to her feathered minis and beaded jumpsuits. I also found the perfect little colorblock mini to take home with me, so be on the lookout for that outfit post coming soon! What I found most inspiring about Ese Azenabor was that prior to launching her collection in 2011, she was studying her masters in accounting at SMU (a fellow mustang!), which shows that taking a risk and following your passion can lead to great success!
Take a look at some of the shots I took from the Ese Azenabor showroom in Dallas, and stay tuned for more trunk shows and events featuring her work! Also, don’t forget to check out her website to learn more about her collections.

Rompers are one of my favorite looks for the summer, as they are so easy and comfortable for casual afternoons. I am loving this new Lilly Pulitzer printed romper I picked up at Barefoot Princess in Watercolor recently. The blue print is so cheery, and pairing it with my hot pink Reed Krakoff bag added a fun pop of color to brighten up my day. See how I styled my romper for lunch with the family, and be sure to check out some of my other favorite rompers below!

This past week, we hosted a bridal shower for one of my closest friends here in Texas. The shower was hosted at Sissy’s in Dallas, and we had an amazing time catching up on the wedding plans, enjoying delicious southern food, and sipping on Tipsy Palmers.
We know you can read all about wedding shower etiquette on Emily Post, so we wanted to focus on the other fun parts of a shower- the flowers, gifts, and (of course) fashion!
I love to find out the bride’s favorite color or type of flower and choose arrangements to match her style. In the photos below, you can see that we went with a Southern Classic theme to represent our southern belle bride! It’s fun to choose a color theme different from the wedding just for variety.
As for gifts, monogram it! China and silver are such classic wedding gifts, but I think it’s fun to give a more personal gift at a shower, since the bride will be opening it in front of the guests. We decided to do a group gift from the bridesmaids, so we chose a large silver monogram tray and a monogram bracelet with her wedding dates. She also received beautiful linens, personalized soaps, cookbooks, and Le Creuset baking dishes.

We loved it when Sara’s fiancé surprised her with a bouquet of flowers at the shower

So now, what to wear! Only the bride should be in all white, so be sure to steer clear of solid white, ivory, or any other very light toned dress. Most of our friends love Lilly Pulitzer, Trina Turk, DVF, Alice & Olivia, and M Missoni sundresses for these occasions- obviously paired with the perfect wedge. Below are some of our favorite picks for what to wear to your next bridal shower:

One piece every woman needs in her closet is a great red dress suitable for every occasion. This Milk and Honey dress is a must-have for our wardrobe. The shape is conservative yet feminine, and we love the open-back detail that provides a fun contrast to the high neckline in the front. Janie paired hers with a bold black and gold necklace and nude patent pumps for an evening look, while Blair paired hers with a denim jacket, chunky Alexis Bittar necklace, and lace up sandals for a casual afternoon look. Whether you choose to dress it up or dress it down, the opportunities to wear this are endless. Visit the Milk and Honey website to shop our looks!
