Attending festivals is nothing new for me, but this weekend was my first time experiencing SXSW Interactive in Austin. In case you aren’t familiar with SXSW, it’s one of the biggest interactive, film, and music festivals in the nation – definitely worth checking out! This year, I was fortunate enough to speak at one of the panels about Blownaway App and the future of on-demand beauty (see here). It was such a cool experience getting to be involved with the festival, as well as having the opportunity to meet so many innovative and successful people within the industry!
Since the festival is very casual and high heels were a no-go, I wore my crochet dress (also seen here) with ankle booties and a braided blowout for a fun twist on my regular curls. The flared sleeves and fringe hem are perfect for one of my favorite Spring trends this year: the 70s. See my SXSW look below and be sure to follow along with my travels, hint: today I am relaxing at one of my favorite Texas resorts, The Houstonian. xo!

You all probably know how obsessed I am with fashion, but you may not know that traveling has always been my favorite pastime. I was fortunate that I grew up in a family that loved to travel, and that passion rubbed off on me over the years. Maybe it’s the fact that we grew up in a small town (hey,
Dothan!) and wanted to see more, or simply the excitement of exploring, but either way I just can’t get enough of it!
I just got back from
London Fashion Week, and I cannot even begin to describe how amazing the experience was! Since I flew directly from NYFW, it was interesting to see the similarities and differences between each fashion week – especially the clothing!
LFW street style definitely had more of a grunge vibe with chunky platforms and boots, oversized coats, and two specific color schemes: neutral darks or vibrant colors (nothing in between from what I saw). Also, beanies and topknots were absolutely everywhere. I definitely loved all of the styles.
Before I dive into all of the fashion shows, new trends, and fab British designers, I wanted to share my London (trendy) travel guide to give a little insight into my AMAZING week!
**Also, we decided to hop around from country to country during the week, so stay tuned for other travel guides and trip reviews**
STAY:
Why stay in one hotel when you can mix it up and get a familiar vibe in different areas? Here are the two London spots we chose as our local home base:
There’s something about a modern, boutique hotel that just makes everything feel instantly chic, and
The Exhibitionist was definitely my style! Set in a charming area in South Kensington (walking distance to all the museums + Harrods), this edgy and contemporary hotel was quite the unexpected surprise inside based on its classic exterior. The decor features bold artwork, wild colors, an elevator that feels just like Lisa Frank’s garden, and edgy wallpaper from pill capsules to outlandish quotes. This hotel is a unique experience that I totally recommend to everyone.
Pros: recently renovated, familiar staff, great location, fabulous interiors
Cons: zero privacy – The bathroom features a large window which opens to the entire room. If you plan to stay here, you better say goodbye to privacy!
For our second stint in London, we switched over to a more classic hotel called the
Conrad St. James by
Hilton. It’s safe to say this is a complete 180 to our first hotel, but I would recommend this one just as much as the first! As a more traditional large hotel, complete with classic yet modern interiors, this is the perfect hotel for anyone, not just the trendy traveler. Our room was absolutely perfect for relaxing, with a huge comfy bed, rain shower, deep soaking tub, all the amenities imaginable, plus buttons for literally everything we needed without having to get up. After a long week of traveling, this definitely hit the spot.
Pros: luxurious rooms, good location, classic
Cons: Feels more like a classic American hotel – though that’s not necessarily a bad thing!
BITES & SIPS:
Sketch – Great food and drinks, but the coolest bathroom of all time
Harrods
VISIT:
The Tube – You have to try this at least once..
It’s nearly impossible to squeeze in everything in a short period of time, so I recommend focusing on your top list items and planning the week around that. My first visit to London with Blair, we spent the week visiting all of the museums and sights – which was such an incredible experience. Since this trip was focused around
London Fashion Week, I planned my week around fashion shows and local hotspots. Whether you are an avid traveler or heading to Europe for your first time, London has something for everyone and is absolutely an amazing (and easy) must-see city!

While visiting New York for fashion week a couple weeks ago, I had the pleasure of visiting the
Charlotte Olympia showroom for a sneak peek of their upcoming collection. For those of you who know anything about me, shoes are my ULTIMATE weakness (though I have a tendency to always re-wear my favorites, oops). I posted a
designer spotlight about Charlotte Olympia quite some time ago –
check it out here for a little background on the designer – but her shoes are absolutely amazing. From her signature Dolly to her insanely creative themed collections, this is one brand I obsess over.
For her newest collection, A World of Interiors, the designer created a line inspired by an ornate mid-century home filled with decadent heirlooms and precious family heirlooms. With cocktail table clutches and materials of wood and marble, we can definitely see the influence of “interiors” among this accessory line. For those of you who love the feline collection, you will be excited to see the introduction of her small accessory line featuring key chains, iPhone holders, credit card holders, and iPad cases – perfect gift ideas!
Apart from the funky handbags and sky-high heels,
Charlotte Olympia also launched her new ABC collection featuring a colorful collection of classic loafers with a wide array of themed adhesives to customize your shoes. Whether you are a “C is for Champagne” kind of girl or a “V is for Va Va Voom”, this collection has a style for everyone – starting at 695.
Check out my photos from the showroom and let me know what you think – Are you as in love with it as I am?

One item that I never leave at home when packing for a trip is a soft gray tee. It’s by far the most versatile item in my closet and always step one for a day of layering. For a cozy mountain day look, I layered an oversized gray blazer (also worn here) over my tee with some over-the-knee boots, jeans, and a classic gray beanie. To keep the look casual, I kept accessories simple with a Kendra Scott tassel necklace and a chunky gold choker. Check out my cozy winter look and shop the links below to shop my style:

For my weekday look, my go-to is a pair of my favorite DL1961 skinny jeans, a roomy blouse, and a pair of comfortable ankle boots perfect for running around between meetings and appointments. Though I occasionally find myself sporting a pair of flats, a great pair of chunky-heeled boots are my favorite to give me that “put-together” feel, while giving my feet a break from high heels.
